    with your chipset, using win7, and two fresh drives, you would just make sure you have set your storage options in bios to raid, created the array in your raid bios once it's active, and then let windows do the rest (auto format/align). if you have a 'used' ssd as part of the array, you would want to to secure erase it prior to creating the array. with xp, you will need to either use the win7 install media or a repair disk (win7 or vista) to format/align (this can be done from the install media, as you then exit, and then boot from xp, and use the 'quick format' option, if you desire to install it to the array. oh, and make sure you have your intel raid drivers on tap for F6/insertion), as xp will not properly align the raw array.

    no grump you use the raid utility to configure them. its kind of like a seperate bios before windows boots

    could some kind soul outline the steps for optimising my new samsung 830 256gb ssd
    I have a tech installing ssd and win 7 pro and cant afford for him to do anymore than put in the ssd and wipe my hd
