Default RAID 0 on Dual Boot: need advice

Hello, since i've been trying to squeeze every bit of performance I can out of my PC lately, I'm considering setting up a RAID 0 configuration between my two SATA HDD's. I understand however that there seems to be risks involved in doing this with two dissimilar drives that both have individual OS's. Therefore I'm hoping to gain knowledge on whether I should consider setting up RAID at all in fear of having to reinstall XP and/or Vista again.

The two drives I have are a WD 80 GB and a Maxtor 200 GB, the WD has XP and the Maxtor has Vista, each has two equal partitions (four partitions in total). I beleive they both have 8MB of cache, whether that makes any difference or not. I'm using the SiS Raid utility that came with the ECS 761GX-M754 mobo.

So what are the risks involved? Should I go ahead and press the tempting 'create' button? Or is it already too late?

Nuts, after reading more info on setting up RAID 0, it seems i'll have to forgo the idea for some time. Apparently I need two identical drives, and set up the RAID before installing any OS.

On the other hand, is there any other programs or utilities that can help improve disk performance without drastically altering my setup?
