I mentioned 32GB a few post back.
But I don't think the Ram has anything to do with it...

Sometimes W7 likes to match hibernate file with ram, it maybe where all the gb's have gone.
I would go look at hibernate and system restore as the culprits.

Are you sure it's set up in Raid 0 ? if you try a clean install limit your memory to 16GBs, you can always install the other 16GBs after the OS is installed.

sorry kenny, i had a few too many last night. as doo mentioned, re the hiberfil.sys will like to match your ram, and restore takes up some space. you can try running the command i posted up earlier (unless you already did that). was this a fresh install, or from an image?

Ok, will look into this..
yea, I was using the bios to raid and I also tried win7 sofware raid and I have the same issue.. Ill try to take out some of the ram and do the install then putting it back in later..
its cool.. no worries, I know you were trying to help.
I did the win7 from a fresh install not a image.
I have done the install like 7 times now.. all in diff set-ups and its still having the same issues, I just can't image win7 taking up so much space.. I am going to try what stan said and take out the 16gb of ram and do another install and see what happens.

OK, Here is a update:
I uninstalled 16GB of Ram and resinstalled the OS. Everything looks good.. It only used 30GB of space on the HD, So it worked... But once I install the other 16GB of ram back in and it jumps back up where the OS is using 63GB on the HD again.. This is odd and first time I have come accross this.
How do I look into the Hibernating issue you guys are talking about.. ??
I do have Hiberbation disabled.

OK, fixed!
I had to go into the Hibernation in the Reg and edit the Hiberntion file.
I also did some playing around with the Page filing and it seems to have fixed the issue.
Its now showing I am only using 40GB with all the drivers and programs I have installed for my MB.. Seems reasonable..

You probably didnt have hibernation off so that was taking up 32GBs

that is one of the things i turn off when first doing a fresh install (running that command to disable hibernation), then disabling pagefile, indexing, auto defrag when using ssd raid, and activating the admin account, then deleting the account i needed to create to install in the first place, and finally system restore/deleting any previous restore points. they all take up space and like to write about it constantly
