Default Help with SSD installed problem

    Hey guys,

So I am in the process of installing the OS on my X79 build.
I am using one of my old Corsair 120GB force3 drives and I added a second 120GB force3 to raid 0,

However when I go to install windows everything installs fine. Then I check on how much space I have left and its showing that I used 63GB for just the OS install.
This doesn't look right, I did format the drive. I used the windows install to delete the volume then create a new volume.

Anyone know what can be wrong here??
I don't want to install anything else until I figure out the problem.

    Thanks
    Kenny

    Are you running Windows Chub?

Did you use the standard Win-7 RAID drivers or the ones for your Mainboard's controller?
The board has two Hard Drive Controllers on it. Which one is the drives connected to? (Intel or aftermarket controller)

kenny, try reducing your pagefile to maybe 200 megs, and then open run, and enter:

    powercfg -h off

    and then reboot.

(unless you intend to hibernate the system)

kenny, with those gt drives, i'd urge you to secure erase each one before doing an array, as they stay pretty dirty with just a simple format.

I used the Bios to set-up the raid and the volume.
I did use a secure erase to clean the drive.

Not sure why the OS is taking so much space...

Default Re: Help with SSD installed problem

I have 32GB of ram installed.
I also folllowed the SSD guide that is posted on this forum.

The Cache and page files has been moved..

here is a update of what I did also, So i removed the drives off the raid 0 and installed ONE of the SSD's and a standard drive in ACHI.

I am getting the same thing. The OS is still taking like 63GB. its strange cuz on my other computers using the same drive its only like 25GB of space used. So I am not sure what the diff is?

    'moved'..???
you are most likely having doubled up locations. 'remove' would be better, at least until you see what you got

I don't think the page files can take up the additional 30gb of space tho.. Something else is going on, but I just can't figure it out..
