Default SSD Prices Continue 3-Year Plunge

After dropping 20% in the second quarter of 2012 alone, SSD prices fell another 10% in the second half of the year, according to data from IHS iSupply.

The better deals for SSDs are now around 80- to 90-cents-per-gigabyte of capacity, though some sale prices have been even lower, according to Ryan Chien, an IHS SSD and storage analyst.

I've been waiting for a 256GB SATA III SSD for under $150. Thought I'd get lucky this time of year but haven't seen one yet.

I even picked up a brand new WD 600GB Veliciraptor last week for $109, I plan on trying to use this with the Crucial Adrenaline drive they sent me. The same day I also picked up both a Samsung 24X DVD Burner, and a Lite ON Blu-ray for a total of $53. You just have to keep your eyes open and check every day for deals

Our tax refunds are going to pay off my wife's student loans this year.
The SSDs I have already will have to do me for a while. (unless there are more contests in our PureOC future,................)

I saw them. $159 isn't under $150. I'm holding out for a while longer. I want a SATA III 256GB SSD for $140ish. They will eventually get that cheap.

They already have just a few weeks ago on Tiger Direct.. I got 2 Kingston 240GB HyperX 3K drives for $130 shipped each... It was a one day sale, but only lasted about 4 hours before they sold out...

Prices are going to continue to drop.

Wish Newegg would have a sale like that. I hope these drives get below $0.50 per GB soon.
