Default First time ssd in a laptop

Finally broke down and tried a ssd in my Qosmio...really snapped it up! Should have done this earlier. Had an old OCZ Vertex 2 60GB lying about so I threw it in just to see. Took the Windows Experience score from a 5.8 to a nice 6.9. I will probably be ordering a 256GB Samsung shortly...

My 7 year old HP lappy really liked the 120GB ssd I put in it. I doubled the RAM in it too, now it's like a new machine.

Yeah, I was kind of in the same boat. I like my older Toshiba with the i5 cpu and 460M graphics, but lately I've been casting a lustful eye towards a newer i7 laptop with upgraded graphics. Problem is the real world dictates I have no actual need for this...kind of like the allure of strange women lol. Now. if I run across something for a song...

I couldn't afford a new laptop, but I had the drive here, and the Micron RAM was cheap. My HP is much older than yours, but it's fine now.

Hard drives are the biggest bottleneck in modern systems. Lack of RAM in a notebook would be the second.

Buy any SSD and you'll see a huge jump in performance across the board.

    Congratz!

Yep - I have 8GB of ram in the Qosmio right now...doubt I will change that for this machine and it's duties. I did however pull the trigger on the 'egg for a 256GB 840 Sammy. Oh boy, just when I was getting the laptop back up to snuff.

Aw shucks...I could'nt get it out of my head. I just bought a MSI GT70 ONC-494US for $1300. Guess I will be adding the Samsung ssd to the MSI instead of the Toshiba lol. I'll post up some pic's when I have it in hand and of course the obligatory benchmarks haha.
