do you guys really know what you're doing?
because I didn't even know you can install two harddrive in a laptop.
save all the headache, return 2 vertex and just buy one huge SSD (256 or 500gb).
you're talking about RAID0 setup for desktop and I don't think laptop's mobo has this feature.

It does support two individual drives.

Acer Support: Acer Aspire 8943G Notebook Series Specifications

As for the RAID0.. why would you want to chance data loss when a single SSD is hella fast on it's own? Like Deton said, I would get one large drive and keep a 750GB in for storage.

if you want multiple harddrive combined as one big huge drive then it calls RAID0, which the setup feature in the bios, just to let you know RAID0 doesn't support TRIM.
TRIM only support RAID0 in Intel's 7 series chipset. So it's best to use one SSD as boot drive and use the HDD as storage.

if both drives died at the same time then the old drives were setup up as RAID0, if one dies then the second is no long in service as well.

you need to take a look at bios, I'm not familiar with acer bios, some mobo has to press control+I to take you RAID setup menu to configure the new drives. Take a look at user manual.

This would have been something that is setup with the recovery disk. It should load a raid type driver, partition the drives the way you are asking about then install the os.

I hope he created the restore disk. You may still run into issues. It might only be support on certain driver. calling Acer will be fruitless.

This unit indeed has 2 drive bays with support of at least 1tb per bay.
