    Default Noob stability Qst...

Hello one and all! I've read, in many places, that one of the single best upgrades for a PC is to get an SSD. With that said, I've noticed some pretty good promo's over at newegg for some 120/128gg SSD's for under $100. Based on my specs on the side there, would a sataIII ssd play nice with my sataII hdd, or should I upgrade my hdd first?

ooking at the specs for your board it says it has 2 sata 3 compatible ports (on a marvel controller). So you'll see decent performance out of your old chipset

Basically I'll give you a little run down just in case you're not too sure.

Your motherboard has sata controllers that you connect your storage devices to.
Your motherboard happens to have both Sata II and Sata III controllers.
So you'll be able to keep your HDD in the sata II port where it is and put your new SSD in the sata 3 port. (check your motherboard manual for where it is).

Then you'll need to re install your operating system onto the SSD instead of the HDD you had already. Then you'll see the performance improvement It will make your operating system nice and snappy, however, game will stay relatively the same once loaded. You can then use your HDD for storage.

    Hope that helped mate!

You should go with at least a 240 or 256GB SSD, by the end of November there should be some excellent deals. If your located in the US, I should be able to give you a great deal on a new 240GB, if your interested, send me a PM

Well, suddenly the world seems a bit smaller! Thanks for the info, it make the decision process a little bit easier. By the way, if I remember right, it's about spring time for the land down under. How's the weather?
