Default Toshiba announces new 5TB HDD for the enterprise market

Toshiba's Storage Products Business Unit has just announced its next-generation of 3.5-inch enterprise HDDs, the MG04 series. The MG04 series is the industry's first enterprise capacity category models that support industry standard 4K Advanced Format sector technologies, as well as persistent write cache technology. The new drives arrive with SATA 6Gbps connectivity, with the SAS MG04SCA and SATA MG04ACA available at up to an astounding 5TB. These 5TB HDDs still spin at 7,200RPM, which will give enterprise users plenty to smile about. The new Toshiba MG04 enterprise class HDDs will come in either a SAS or SATA interface - depending on what is required. Samples will begin shipping this month.
