Default Raptor X 10,000 rpm noisy?

Anyone here have a a raptor x HD any1 else notice how noisy it is?

coz mine is, considering selling it and just using my normal 7200 rpm

since i just got my first pc (ive been using a pc thats six yrs old now p4 1.4ghz 512mb ram windows XP ) i cnt really compare the difference in speed , has any1 else noticed a difference (besides noise) between using a normal 7,200 rpm hd and 10,000 rpm hd in terms of loading times/performance?

any1 else had the same problems?

I have 2 Raptor 150GBs (in an open case next to me) so not quite a jazzy as the Raptor X, but what kind of noise are you experiencing?

And tbh the actual every day performance between a 10k and a 7.2 is relatively small, you would achieve the same drive performance by combining either a 10k or 7.2 in a Raid 0 array (not that Iím condoning such things )

Interestingly the Raptor 150s make a similar noise, itís very infrequent and does not happen at any particular time, but both drives do a single click which sounds like the head being reset or something similar.
First time I heard it I was very scared, thought the disks were damaged and thought Windows was going to BSOD but I have never had a problem.

It could also be something to do with the combination of Nv680i Raid 0, Nv8800 GTX and Raptor, about 6 months ago Tom's Hardware identified a hardware bug that these components in combination would cause resulting in some odd effects and released a patch to counter the effect.

The only difference is yours have a nice piece of clear acrylic on the top and cost a little more.

And here is a pic of my Raid array, check out the Case Gallery topic for more shots.

    Default Noisy Hard Drive

You might consider backing up any critical files. An unusually noisy hard drive may be signaling approaching doom.
