Default USB 3.0 to SATA adapter needed?

So I'm finally installing my 840 EVO and I noticed in the instructions it shows a usb3.0 to sata adapter to install the drivers before installing the drive into your system. No adapter came with the drive, so, I checked Samsung's installation videos and they show the same thing. So do I need it or am I ok without it?

I have no clue why you would need to. I have an 830 and 850 M.2 and MSata and I did not need to install anything to get them to work.

Agreed. It should be recognized as a SATA device and work just like a HDD. The drivers are likely for XP, which didn't recognize SSD's natively.

No need any adapter, just connect it with Sata cable to adequate sata port on your board and that's it.

Sometimes you need a Raid driver when using said configuration with Windows 7, but usually, you just download that to a USB flash drive and Windows gives you the option to search for the driver during installation. No adapter needed.
