    Default Having some issues

Ok I bought a 400 GB WD Corsair HD. I currently have a 200 GB Seagate barracuda as my main HD...herein lies the problem.

When I follow the directions of simply plugging the HD into my mb (A8V deluxe) I have 3 different slots to choose from...2 are serial ATA connectors and 2 are RAID serial ATA connectors. The primary original harddrive was plugged into a RAID serial ATA connector. When I plug my 400 GB new hard drive into my MB in the serial ATA slot my computer boots up but when I go to device manager it won't recognize that I have a new drive...however going to my fastrak it recognizes that there is a 400 GB hard drive there. So I'm stuck

My current HD is in 1+0 stripe/RAID0 according to systools. Do I want to keep my hard drive in this set up? Do I have to keep it like this? Will it delete or make inaccessible whats on there if I change it.

Here is what I WANT to happen. I want to have 2 hard drives independent of each other. I want to use my 400 GB as my primary since its got a 16 mb cache and so its faster. I want ot use my 200 GB independently as a storage drive for my tv shows/movies/music/etc. How do I make this happen? Basically I want it like the old IDE master slave situation where my 200 gb is my slave. GRRRRRRRRRRR while sata is nice this is being a pain in my butt. So much for the WD directions of...plug it into the MB, plug it into the power supply and you have a new HD.

plug both of them to normal SATA connectors, then go into the bios and select which one you want to boot from, the option should be there somewhere. That should work i think.

Is your HDD shoeing up in windows.. cos' you mentioned it doesn't display it?

If it isn't then you need to go to Start>Control Panel>Administartive Tools>Computer Management.. and format the drive there first

Well its recognized and formatted now. For some reasn when the other drive was in RAID my computer didn't want to recognize the new drive. It seems fine now but now I have a nother problem.

I changed out my MB yesterday and then added the new HD today and now when I had to reregister my windows xp it said that there had been too many changes and I have to buy a new code. Anyway around this BS?

At this point in time I dont care if its legal or illegal. That MS would say I have to rebuy my XP after I already own the damn OS pisses me off to no end.

i think you phone up a number for this in your region and they will re-issue you a new code for free.
