    Default VelociRaptor harddrive settings

    hi
i have a asus p6t deluxe motherboard and im trying to figure out if i need to enable ahci for max performance with my VelociRaptor harddrive. When i try to, it just goes into a bootloop, there are 2 sata dvds and 3 hard drives ( not in raid) on the controller.

Is there any other settings in vista 64bit that would inprove hard drive performance?

    thanks for any ideas

You shouldn't need to use AHCI for a Velociraptor, particularly if it's not in RAID. I have a P6T sitting here with a Velociraptor and Vista 64-bit as it just happens, and no AHCI for me. AHCI typically helps with SSDs, so I'm not sure what much more would "improve" performance on a Velociraptor........other than RAIDing a few of them together I suppose. Access times would still be the same, but throughput would jump, depending on how many drives you have in a RAID 0 configuration.
