    Default email notification from non-member?

Just got email notification of post subscribed to from member :-

    uvwx 033

This guy doesn't appear in member list nor is the post on the forum.

I don't use links from within email unnecessarily (can copy and paste the whole thing if you wish)

Is this part of your testing the new look or something more malicious? (The links do seem to be advertising at the very least)

or maybe i can, if they send you a message, it will stay in your inbox, read or unread, even if their banned, but all the posts and threads by them will be erased

also their name will come up on the " Total members that have visited the forum in the last 24 hours:" area of the forums, their name will have a strike out mark through their name, which means their banned.
    What?

uvwx 033 was a spammer who signed up today, and I banned. Perhaps he sent the message before he was banned?

Yup, the staff took care of the spam posts.

it was an email notification. Grumpy was subcribed to the thread this spammer posted on but checked the thread after gareth had deleted his spammy message, and so didn't see any new post there and thus thought... conspiracy!

You nailed it, both of you, My concern was not conspiracy but that the New Look site had let someone in through a back door to the email subscription stuff

You see, NOOB + OLD GUY = confusion!! Thanks to you both for explaining
