Hi Grumpydaddy as requested a new thread full of i7 folding not sure what to put in here but i will let you know what my stats are every so often if you like, I have only set up on my main rig was gonna put it on all 3 until i saw how much my main RIG is pulling from the skt lol 512w on desktop - gonna see how much of a hit my electric bill is going to take before i set up the other 2 pc's for folding it looks like i will be processing 1 WU a day on this RIG not sure if thats good or bad but had this up for 4 hours today and 25% through the WU already will keep you posted

hmmm 20 % of WU in 1 hour and guys i don't know how to get that FAHMON thing working please can anyone help with that ??? it says add new client but i don't know where it wants the info/file from

    Sure can,

When you installed folding you put it all in a folder that is not in program files right? I'm a bit out of my depth here cos I use xp, so for me the path is: C:\Fah for my SMP folding and C:\documents and settings\mike\application data\gpu 1 for my first GPU.

Probably the easiest way is to drag the whole folder into Fahmon. Alternately right click in the box click add new client, give it any name you wish, use browse button to find the folder and once found enter that.

Let me know when you have this bit and then maybe once this has run for a few hours you could post a screenshot of it all working...Need all the info.

If you want to maximise your output I can show you some moves based on what we see.

    hi,
I can't find anything that says gpu 1 or anyother number for that matter
the only things i can find is in C:\Program Files (x86)\FahMon
and Sh4rk\AppData\Roaming\Foldinghome-gpu i assume i point it to this file and it will work?

yep, that will work if you have 1 gpu running. I maybe misunderstood I thought you had SMP running on your CPU. Because you have 4870 x2's I will have to do some reading about whether or not you can run the 2 part of x2....you may still be limited to 1 on each x2.

If you are interested in trying SMP at some point ...talk to me and I will try to re-jig our guide to suit or even to run up some hints for running 2 at once which on i7 should really perform.

is there some daft way for every core inc GPU's to run at the same time cos that would crunch amazing amounts of data i have no idea what Folding is using at the moment - how do i find out and how do i set up for smp? lol what is SMP anyways - i game a lot and do other random tech stuff like server management cisco and the like, really don't know much about configuring folding ( although i know a bit about how it works)

First read our smp guide. It's weighted toward xp use but as a single setup the steps are all there:
    http://www.forums.pureoverclock.com/...ead.php?t=3721

Perhaps the simplest guide for setting up two instances is at:
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/Forums/...d.php?t=199283

This one is probably the best for you and will allow you to play around with affinities and ht and stuff to see what works best. There is another affinity prog called WinAFC that works well too but is not an easy learn. Again if you want to try it I can give you some settings

Feel free to ask more questions

well that didn't go so well - i followed the guide for multiple GPU obviously taking into account that i have a (program x86) folder and that my appdata is set out differently C:\Sh4rk\appdata\roaming\Folding and all i got was drivers aren't compatible and other instances of F@H are running with some error code i would assume from that that i only have 1 GPU out of the 4 running and as i cannot seem to get a monitor program running i am all confused as to what to try next

First lets look at the "other instances" problem.

This is usually solved by deleting the config file and starting again paying particular attention to the following:

"Make sure the Machine ID is different then any CPU or GPU client you have running. Note: default is 2." My advice here is to use 3 for the first gpu then 4 for the second etc...

Next when you did the shortcuts when you added -gpu 0, -gpu 1 etc. it must look exactly like this with the space between the u and the 1.

Finally Fahmon: open clients tab>add new client>enter the name of your choice>click button at end of location line>navigate to your folding folder for the first gpu (this is the same as the "start in" line of your shortcut) >enter

See how you go with these first.....good luck
