I'm not sure about the PSU's capabilities, but I have a 750W, and a 850W PSU "on the shelf" if I need them. Shelves are there for hoarding,....right?

This mainboard was provided to me by AMD to go with the CPU. It's the revision 3.0 with the proper power handling built into it.
I'm installing a SeaSonic 850W PSU into the build now now.
It will take my old eyes and shaky hands a long time to reroute everything.

The power issue is why I didn't start it up with the smaller PSU in it. I just naturally try to toss two GPUs into everything that I build these days.
I should have realized that I was building out of SPEC, but I was happy to be building after so long of a wait.
I have only done one build in the last two years.

    Far too long,........

I have this one to do, then a X99, and a 4690K build too.
I've been collecting parts for a long time, bit by bit. (dollar by dollar)
That's why there is so much crap on my shelves.

Wowser! Thats my kinda computer and work office! Looks like a fun place to hang out to me. I see at least three intel chips on the shelf and at least one AMD chip. Id say, yeppers, youve been waiting too long to get back into building......I collected parts and pieces from wins and it took almost three years to win a complete build and then everything was so outdated I was still 3 years behind the times. Looks like enough to keep you busy for awhile..Enjoy it!

I'm retiring an i7-870, a FX-8350, and a i7-2600K (CPU's and their boards) when all is said and done. The 2600K is going to go into my wife's office PC.
I may have to sell off a bunch of stuff to help with buying a really good CPU for the X99 build.

So I replaced the PSU and got to spend the day screwing around, trying to get this POS running!

This is the board that AMD sent me for this FX-9590 CPU. It would boot up, configure BIOS and then choke while installing Window or Linux.
I swapped the RAM, SSD's, Video Cards, and the Plextor DVD Burner.

    Nothing fixed it.

I finally went to Gigabyte's Support page and my F2 BIOS doesn't support this CPU.
They had a BETA F3i BIOS that worked, but it still wouldn't install any OS.

Then, I did a repeat of everything and no good came of it.

I started checking the Memory QVL from Gigabyte, and hidden there, was a ~note~ that all four Memory slots don't work if you're using the FX-9590 CPU.
You can only use two, one in each channel.

So I got to install Win-7 This afternoon and here is my first Bench result.

    Stock Clocks so far.

It pissed me off that the board didn't have a BIOS installed that would run this CPU. Not having all four RAM slots to use really sucks too.

But overall, it's pretty darn robust. The Cougar fans are really quiet too. They're worth what they cost. The cooler that came with the CPU is a good one. Temps are well under control.

My last build MSI Z87 G45 Gaming recently got a CPU & RAM upgrade (i7-4790K and 16GB DDR3-2400MHz) and it's quicker, but they both "feel" very fast. This is definitely a keeper.

it certainly seems to be the weak link, I think even a 280 or 290 would really improve it

My 280s all perform really well. I'm tempted to put all three of them into my upcoming X99 build.

I have a pair of GTX-690s with full water blocks on the way in a few days.
Those will go into the 4790K build, I think, but both of those are dual GPUs so together they're quad SLI.
