    Default Virginia Tech Shooting.

I am just wondering if you all have heard about the Virginia Tech incident. I hope that everyone and everyone's families are ok.

This is absolutely terrible news, we watched it on the television during class today. My thoughts go out to everyone's families who has been infected with this raging maniac.

So everyones famillies are ok though, right? And I would be suprised if romeo is right. Also I think we should pray for them all and for the soul of the killer, may god be able to right his wrongs.

The killer was an Asian male in his 20's, reportedly very antisocial and had very few college buddies. He, after killing 31 ppl including a professor, took his own life. It has been named the deadliest shooting incident in U.S history.

    Absolutely tragic attack, very haunting.

I hope that this is never forgotten and that steps are taken to stop it form happening again. However, that must wait, right now 31 people are dead and they must be remembered and their souls prayed for.

Sorry. But, I can't understand why people would do this. I mean I read some of their biography's of the victims I mean they were good people. People with a future and people who cared about them. Now they are dead and have no future because some asshole was having a bad day. I mean 31 perfectly good people dead on a whim.

I know, it is an absolute tragedy that has really hit home to people all around the world, it's an absolute waste of life. Yet 30 odd young people probably die each week in America because of guns and no one seems to think that's a big deal worth doing something about.

I guess my real point with this is that America has a problem with guns that is a continuous event, and like Columbine this will get massive media attention because of the severity of the crime, all the wrong things will be blamed for it (like romeozor joked) to divert attention away from the real issues (gun laws, gun culture, poverty, etc), and 10 years from now it will happen again, but inbetween the selective media frenzies 15,000 childeren will have been killed by guns.

that's my thought, i don't expect everyone to agree.

I actually totally agree. However, I don't want it to be like the UK where guns aren't allowed. But I do agree with what you are saying about causes and media.

i dont think guns are the cause. mind you they do make the situation worse in some cases. if you took guns away he'd use a sword or find a way to get a gun. it all comes down to how self centered our society is, if people would just realise that the world doesnt revolve around them this kind of crap wouldnt happen.

Yer sorry to say there will always be 1 nutcase capable of this sort of atroscity. As who is to blame thats a tough question, all i can say is he wouldnt have killed 30 people with a sword and guns are way to easy to come by imo.

i read in the paper that he was bullied alot and was a social outcast pretty much all through his school years. I was bullied and was put in the freak crowd by my class mates as well (not that the "freaks" were bad, some of the best friends i ever had). More than likely he was depressed and he had no friends because ppl tend to follow the "in" crowd. Frustrated with how his life was turning out (in colledge and still a social outcast) he was prob pushed one time too many from someone or some situation. He also prob felt that he had nothing to loose and then someone just did something to set him off and this was his final statement. He took those ppls futures from them because he didnt have a future of his own, and he blamed them(not each person is specific, but the class they represented) It's not that i condone any of his actions but usually ppl r a product of thier environment, so the ppl around him created him. He didnt like who he was because of them. He wasnt simply having a bad day, he was having a bad life. I have felt very similar at times in the past, so i sympathize for him, but i never have or prob never will snap like that. Some ppl cant handle things as well as others, but then again i also had friends, he did not. It is always a horrible thing when something like this happens. It's ALL just sensless violence.
