thanks for sharing and I know you are trying to rack up your post but to be realistic here. We're way bigger than TechieAnalyst site, we have board range of sponsors. We have hard time to get Intel sending us sample for review. How the heck the other guy, his site rank over 100k can get Intel to sponsor for 990x giveaway.

I guess this the thing make you go Hmmmmmmmmmmm????

    Goodluck fellas

Deton, Intel sent us 3 Sandy Bridge chips for review, most sites only received 1 or 2, and lets not forget that we only started working with Intel last June when they sent us the 655K for review.

If you read the post in the contest, the 990X is used, the guy says he's currently hitting 4.3GHz which we all know that this chip can hit close to 5 GHz on air cooling

Hey Stan, I am confused now... I know that is nothing new but since when can the 990x run 5.0 or even close on air?

I know the 2600k will but have not seen reports of the 990x being the same.

Ok, well i just stumbled upon it and its a pretty good site. They have steam giveaways on a regular basis and also TF2 Weapons to be given out for free. And I think it's because of those kind of giveaways that attracted allot of members. There's also an LCD giveaway, its a fun forum.
He probably doesn't want to max it out so much that's why he's at 4.3Ghz . . LOL so just trying my luck.
And yeah, its a beast of a processor..

Take a look at the attached screenshot, I'm at 4.8GHz with the Noctua D14 and Rampage 3 Extreme.

1.4v on both 990X chips the other chip is at 4.64GHz with the G1 ASSASSIN , but I'm not done testing so I should be able to hit 4.8GHz with air on this also

I'm totally aware of this but can't you get a 990X from Intel as a give away prize for PureOC members?

My point was that PureOC is way bigger than TechieAnalyst site, and how hard you work to get your foot to the Intel doors. Just check the site statistics.

Anyway, my hat is off for the guy willing to give away his $1000 chip.

My OC wouldn't be anything impressive for the more hardcore folks, currently I settled at 4.4 recently, and I've been happy with it so far, considering I have a pair of 6990s under Swiftech Epsilons and three 320 Kits setup in a triple loop, I was lazy this time around so went with pre built kits. I use to play with the old asetek vapochills a fair amount, but that was awhile ago.

I just wanted to point out the CPU isn't used, itís still sealed. When I replaced the 980Xs in the gfs machine and my own, I ended up getting three more, one spare in case I blew away a processor during overclocking and two others which were meant for a couple of new workstations I was setting up at work. To say the least knowing the X78s come out December I skipped on building the other two workstations, so they sit on a shelf.

The community is about gaming and game collecting, I myself have close to 2000 games on steam (sad I know), and the community and everything is self-funded plus we are only three weeks in.

Deton, were way past $1000 in prizes for the giveaway, more like $3000 by the time I'm done getting sponsors for our giveaway don't be surprised if we hit the $4000 mark. I'm trying to get a total of 40 prizes so more than just one member can win.
