I think perhaps that perspective is being lost on this. It's quite simple though: nobody here "owns" contacts. Companies work with MANY sites; they are not exclusive to PureOC, nor vice versa. Companies are not our clients, the relationship is not like that. Stan ran the business side of PureOC and I ran the content side of things in order to keep them separate and maintain journalistic integrity. After all, there are many sites out there whose reviews are affected by advertising dollars and company influence (ie-"payola"). We are not one of them. There's also the matter of what's humanly possible......I could not write my own reviews, edit everyone else's, get them posted, admin the forums, and maintain the back end of the site, while also working directly with companies about product samples. There simply isn't enough time in the day, plus I have a full time career and other things besides PureOC. So Stan handled that side of things. He's good at it, he likes doing it, and he has the time to do it. It's as simple as that, there is nothing disingenuous about it, and anyone who says otherwise is either mistaken or disingenuous himself.

So unless I've lost all my skill overnight, or have decided to throw everyone under the bus since lunchtime, I think the melodramatics aren't warranted. Seems most people here are mature and positive, and I'd like to think that things can continue in that manner. The world hasn't stopped rotating, nobody has died. Come on, really. The melodramatics are the very thing which will cause good discussion to devolve into drivel that we see elsewhere on other sites. Last I checked, I wasn't some uninformed idiot who never lifted a finger around here. We built this site. WE did. Stan, me, you, Tony, Mike, and so on. I wasn't aware that one person built this site and made its success so dependent on a solitary person. Sheesh, I thought PureOC was a team, and we all played a role. Maybe I was wrong and none of us matter because some of us didn't handle company contacts regularly? Wow, that's news to me (yes, pun intended).
So are you saying you're back full time? Because that is what's needed if you plan to carry on what Stan has done in your absence and to continue your reviews. Stan is not the be all of this site, of-course not.. but there is no doubt his personality bought most if not all of the new guys here.. testimonial in this thread even.

Look, the new owners have a vested interest in the site end of story and could care less about our hobby. FYI, they offer to sell the website back last night to Stan.. how do you like those melodramatics?

And you talk about contacts.. we will see which ones will stick around after learning of Stan departure.. and possible new Website he's building.

Like I said, I've been through this before and As Deton mention, the writing was on the wall.

Jake, It was a mistake selling the site.. even Stan admits it now.

    alas, what done is done.

I don't see a problem with this as long as everything is out in the open. I think any anxiety on here would be down to the loss of friends or the purpose of the site.

It doesn't look like either of these will change. For some it may be retirement but it doesn't mean they will no longer contribute or stay friends! I haven't been here long but it seems like everything has been done to make a smooth transition and for those leaving rolls I hope they do enjoy more time to themselves and in there own lives. Looks like they have made a lot of people happy on here so it's the least they deserve!

The fact of the matter is the website numbers do not look good after the new owners took over.. and they wanted to wash their hands of it.

The fact of the matter is your upset and rightly so, but what happened happened, and what your saying is so far from the truth Stan's departure was not caused by the the new owners, or sale of the site I can tell you that.

Stan left of his own accord he even mentioned to me months ago how he was looking forward to retiring by the end of this year

And if you believe the rumors or listen to the lies being told by anyone, here or even Stan for that matter, well I have a bridge I would like to sell you.

Stan reason for wanting to leave months ago was because he hated where the website was going.. I also know he would stay around to train the new owners the in and outs of the website and would eventually leave... but not like this.

We all looked at it as a fresh start with new owners who would maintain the website.. but as you see spammers is taking over and nothing is being done, they even told Stan this site is not their top priority.. the new owners have other websites. PureOC is a money pit for them right now after the traffic tanked. At this point it seems we get more hits from spammers. The new owner have no experience running a site like ours.

I didnt expect to see such bitterness. I continue to see new faces and other members being more active recently. Yes the spam is screwing with things by making it hard to tell what is an active thread. Having recent post shoved down by a dick head spammer blows. Its not just us dealing with it though. It still needs to be addressed. SOON!

I would hate to lose all of the freinds I have made here because of what is happening. I think people need to be calm and let them work things out. Im sure they will keep us up to date on the continued transistion.

    Damnit please go build something!

I think that we all need to calm down, and be a little more patient, not to be so desperate. I know (I feel too), this site is like no others, more like one big family, but anyone in this family has priorities and other paths to take and we must respect that (feel sad... naturally, feel angry/disappointed... perhaps, suspicious... well; someone yes, someone no....), that's just the way the life is.

Damn it, Where my "{popcornsmiley}" when I need it..
LMAO.... All Joking aside... I think everyone just needs to sit back and relax a little bit...

Seeing as if some of you might have gotten your undies all in a bunch... Sit down, loosen those up a bit and take a breather.... (it helps)

We are all sadden by the announcement of the departure of Stan, I for one can def. respect Stan for what he does everyday to bring samples to the reviewers and being as you so call it "the face for the forum", I think we have all applaud that. However, I have re-iterate and make this clear, he wasn't the ONLY face to PureOC. IMO, all the members, staff and reviewers here are the faces of PureOC. How you act, respond, interact, and share your knowledge with members on the forums here play a bigger role in what this forum really is... As you can see by the post, most of us here, are more than forum members, we have all become friends, from the time we spend here and the passion we share from the same hobby; I can safely say that even with the departure of Stan I don't foresee that to change. Hell, I have most of you here on my facebook, so with that said... rather then bicker back and forth with each other, let the man (I mean Stan at this point) be the person to explain himself and share his thoughts on what is going on... No reason for "US" the members, friends and staff or PureOC to continue to make assumptions or accusations.

Stan leaving will def. spark some changes, and while we are losing a huge role that PureOC use to have. However everyone here is basing everything off of what "he said, she said" and you know how those can go... Why not just sit back and see how things play out before you abandon ship or take the leap of faith before getting the facts. You are all big boys/girls... you can figure that out.

Stan leaving will give us some set backs with vendors, he played a huge role in that as I mentioned, however many of us have the people skills to talk to vendors, so that doesn't mean that we can't build those relationships with the vendors again. I think we just need to refocus our point here and embrace the changes to come. Give it a chance, you never know.... it may turn out for the better.

I hope my post clears some things up and gives you the bigger picture of what (at least what I thought) was the brighter side of PureOC.

Off my soap box and back to working.
Your friendly neighborhood Moderator and friend, Kenny
