Default Old Sold PC, The tears I had.

So, I sold my old pc to my buddys mom about 4 or 3 years ago, before that the pc also was ran 24/7 for 3 years, to where i burnt out the Monitor before the computer hah.
Sandy and I was speaking as I was trouble shooting and he was tossing me ideas while i told him what was going on, so it helped me regardless so thanks again bud!

I heard she couldn't get it to boot, as no video was showing. She also told me before that should would turn it on and off and on again if it happened but it no longer works.

I get the PC Today, as I know it was dust free when I sent it off, even though my rigs get heavily dusty.
It was a old Q6600 with a XFX 8800gt alpha dog edition gpu.

I assumed it was the gpu, so I tear the rig apart, its dusty as heck of course, also the fact she lives out in the country with animals ect. such as goats, chickens, ducks, you name it.
She turns it on and off daily so thats atleast good.

So I try it just in case to see the prob, and make sure it wasn't the monitor as I put in a brand new board for the monitor I too sold to her. Try it on my comp, it works. So then i tried the other dvi port, no go.

I take out the GPU, and I behold this.

So next, i pop in my gpu, it works but I get BSOD, try restting bios nadda, so then its off to other components too.
Memory taken out of slot 1 and 3 it boots!
Then i try the other two sticks in slot 2 and 4 but the ones I took out, no gpu image and also BSOD when it would boot.
Then I test single. I get a few working, a few not.

One that didn't work while booting with USB Ubuntu was giving me this amazing artifacting after loading the OS, while I had green glitter on the screen before that.

So now, while I was doing this, she was in the city as its a hour and some minute drive where she lives out in country, and when i figured out said problems, I told her what she needed, and she was by a Best buy. So now I await that to pop it in, as I THINK I GOT WORKING MEMORY, but we have 0 computer shops here, so not even bestbuy probably has dd2 800mhz memory as I couldn't find any online in the store.

So hopefully the memory can live strong a little longer.

All i know is, stop working on old computers i got rid of for free, because these are living nightmares...
I smoke, my stuff gets dusty, but hot damn ive never seen it like that, even after a year of 0 cleaning, which now makes me want to even clean it more than once every few months.

I teared up almost seeing how dusty and messed up my old rig was, or it coulda been the dust in my eyes.

Not even a brush was able to ungunk that gpu all the way, i gotta take a knife to it. Good thing its broken now though.

I think you need to get some pantyhose (big ones) and cover the whole rig..... Keep that crap on the outside. Pretty it won't be but working maybe better.

That all looks bad enough to put it all in the bath and give it a damn good scrub.... Maybe without the additional paths for the current to travel through the dust..... or is it perhaps the insulation of ram slots etc by crud ???

Once again not my rig anymore, but I wish they would do that.
The gpu's toasted. I think memory and/or motherboard is too, but they atleast work, so who knows.

Spent too much of my time for free to keep working on it and getting parts online or something which they wont spend for anyways.
Ill eventually clean it and put it as a wall decorator or something

The only clean part cause I kept the plastic on the GPU.

Now you guys can see the horror of insides, FYI the fan doesn't look like it does in first pic because I took a knife to take the caking off.

I thought that EVGA had a lifetime warranty back then? I have two from XFX that are lifetime warrantied.
I just sent in my XFX Radeon 6870 Black and they repaired it, and then returned it.

EVGA had the same deal. Send it in for repair once it's cleaned up.
