    Default Avoid TigerDirect!

I've not used them often over the years, and thought their decision to buy the Assets of Compusa and Circuit City were frankly silly, but they've always been a reasonably reputable alternative to NewEgg (although usually higher priced). However it looks like PCM of PC & MacMall fame have bought them out and suspended ALL returns for ANY reason.

I never bought anything from TG, as their prices was always higher than NewEgg and Amazon. Not accepting returning and refunding of any kinds sounds ridiculous.

    Default Re: Avoid TigerDirect!

I saw this a few days before Christmas, there was some info floating around that they were no longer the original tiger direct that was in business before. Also, if you look at there site, a lot of the items they were selling before like mb and cpu are no longer even on the site. The selection is very limited as we speak, I was actually looking for graphics cards but the only thing that had listed was a AMD R9 390x and nothing else. I thought it was kind of odd. So I had a feeling that something had changed or they were going to announce chap 11 after the holidays were over.

Yeah, "back in the day", you know, when Computer Shopper made a satisyfing "Thunk" when you dropped it on the floor, and enough of them stacked would make a credible nightstand/end-table, Tiger was OK. Often a little pricey, but they did have some decent sales. I've bought from them a few times over the years, but PC Mall / Mac Mall went the way of CDW years ago, and decided to focus on corporate customers...so effectively since they bought Tiger, it's likely a dead brand forever...anyway.

Like so many others...anybody remember GoogleGear (later ZipZoomFly)? They were pretty good back prior to Newegg & Amazon dominating the universe...lol

I probably haven't been there in months (if not years)...I'm pretty sure you're likely right about the Chapt 11, and PCM probably bought them in the equivalent of a firesale...lol

I haven't ordered from Tiger Direct since they screwed me over a year ago. I'd updated my address on their website 2 separate times before placing an order, & they still sent it to the wrong address! Someone got a free scientific calculator & batteries! I really hope they didn't get my CC #, but in any case I canceled it all the same.

Thanks for the heads-up to the community.

I am also one who has used Tiger Direct in the past and always had good experiences with them. I mainly used them for electronics and PC supplies, since their prices on actual PC components were a little high unless they were on sale. Over the last couple years they have been going slowly downhill. Sad to hear the last nail has been driven into their coffin now.
