I'LL SECOND THAT!! If they do that here (UK) and the prices are even close to US prices there will be a lot of places going out of business (shouldn't have been so greedy in the first place)...But hey they don't need to....just need to open an export dept.

Wondering if they are going to have a retail outlet like Tigerdirect?
Newegg has bigger selection though, they're going to make TD and NCIX run for their money.

Yeah, this is a good news, the more compitions the better prices for the consumer.

I doubt they will have retail outlets, as it would push the prices of the stuff up, because of employing extra staff to work in outlets, etc.

I guess you are right about it. Tigerdirect prices always higher than Newegg even with online order.

In most cases, I would agree with you... but there are just some things Memory Express doesn't have (and would probably cost a fair bit more for them to special order it). That's where a wholesaler like NewEgg would be very beneficial for me. A good example of this is watercooling supplies (MemEx does not have a lot of stuff for this in their normal stock).

Just curious as well smith: Seeing as you're in Alberta, are you attending Fragapalooza? (LAN party in Edmonton during August 7-10).

Interesting. I wonder how the prices will compare, given the exchange rate on the Dollar.

I almost always order from Direct Canada, out of B.C.........I don't pay PST and it's free shipping on orders over $300, not to mention they're usually the best prices in Canada. Given that, I wonder if the Egg will have comparable incentives, etc. Will we get their famous $6.99 3-day shipping, for example?

Regardless, competition is good for us Canuck consumers

about prices, I think they will be similar to US prices. US & CDN currency are on par now, the only thing you have to worry about is the shipping cost, if their warehouse located in Ontario then we have to pay PST (sales tax).

Well at the very least, the Egg should give a much wider selection for us. Finding some more obscure parts are almost impossible at times. Heck, I couldn't even find a Lian-Li case I wanted and had to order from the States. After shipping and UPS charging me a fortune for import fees, I was cleaned out. Be nice to have a wider selection now, even if it is a few bucks more. Overall should be better.
