    BOOYAH!! I entered their sweepstakes.

Looking forward to seeing their product prices, but also their deals on shipping, usually shipping is a killer for us Canucks.

DirectCanada usually has the best prices overall in Canada. There are exceptions, but they are generally the cheapest, and offer decent shipping rates plus free shipping on orders over $300.

I decided to just randomly pick components, there was no searching to find particular parts. I simply picked a bunch of popular system compoents and compared prices. This isn't very scientific, but it's a quick look. So here's a quick rundown on some major component prices:

    Intel E8500 - $201 Egg, $208 DirectCanada

    Gigabyte Radeon 4870 X2 - $583 Egg, $552 DC

    Lian-Li 2010B - $340 Egg, $330 DC

    OCZ Reaper DDR2 @ 2x2GB - $96 Egg, $95 DC ($75 after rebate)

    Corsair TX750w PSU - $138 Egg, $112 DC

    ASUS P5Q Pro P45 - $148 Egg, $129 DC

Well, there is a quick scan. With little exception, DirectCanada beats Newegg so far. And quite handily in many instances. If you were to build a system based on the above, you would be save QUITE a bit of money by using DirectCanada instead of Newegg.

Newegg's website, however, is much easier to navigate and they also offer more selection and hard-to-get items.

So, the bottom line here is it pays to compare. If you want rock-bottom prices then look at DirectCanada before ordering at Newegg Canada. But if you're looking for something that's hard to find, chances are the Egg will have it.

Perhaps it will drop? I bet its weird looking at a Newegg, knowing you can actually order from it though!

yeah Newegg prices is not cheaper than Direct Canada and I bet NewEgg will have more stock than DC.

Skyguy, I know you shop at DC, how is their service?

Direct Canada is a sister company of NCIX, where I shop often. Recently I though I'm going to try out DC. I placed one order to DC and one to NCIX, both at the same time and I got the order from NCIX within 3-4 working days and in the mean time Direct Canada haven't process my order but NCIX already processed the order a day after I placed the order. So I canceled the order, that's bad IMO. I know NCIX prices/shipping are couple bucks more but their service must better. By the way they do price matches, I use this service all the time.

Here is my rating for Etailer by cheapest
    1) Direct Canada
    2) Newegg
    3) NCIX (price match)
    4) TigerDirect

Sky, do you shop at Canada Computer? they are retail stores but do have online ordering, their prices is pretty good.

I have used all of those companies (except Newegg of course). They each have their pros and cons:

-DirectCanada: best prices in Canada, decent selection, but not the fastest. Never had any problems at all with their service, but they don't rush. HOWEVER, I opted for free shipping and not rush so that would explain that. But to process orders they do take longer than others, but that's the tradeoff I think for their cheap prices.

    -NCIX:
They are DirectCanada's sister company. They have a wider selection than DC, but they also cost more. They have fast service and shipping, and they do price match if you can take the time to go through it. The BEST thing is to get them to price match DirectCanada, then you get the best of both worlds!

-TigerDirect: I live near an outlet so I don't order online, I just go directly to their warehouse. They're hit and miss, they sometimes have some very good deals but some bad deals too. The biggest problem with TD is they don't have much selection for the enthusiast, they mostly deal in mainstream products, which leaves me usually not buying much from them.

-Canada Computers: Pretty good prices but then I gotta pay PST because they're local, whereas DC and NCIX I only pay GST and not PST. But I can get parts really quick since they have stores in all the cities around here. They do have a good selection of enthusiast parts though, which is nice. Their service in their stores kinda sucks though, it's hard to get a salesperson, but I know what I want when I go in anyways. I shop here when I need something fast for a build and can't wait for it to ship across the country from DC or NCIX.

    That about covers it
