    Lightbulb Introduction Section???

As we have seen over the past few weeks, there are more and more people coming to the site for the forums as well as for the reviews. In light of this, I was wondering if any thought had been given to opening an Introduction Section so that we can keep up with all of the new people coming in.

I have seen many places that have ran this with great success, as I am sure that everyone else has as well. A few of the ones that I have been to also made where it to where posts don't count in that section, but in our case, it might be helpful to those people that are looking to try to get their post count up high enough to access the trade section. Also, this should help people to become more active in the site, and help to create a sense of community in new members. I know that I personally have been more active in forums that that give a proper place for people to introduce themselves.

We could also have a sticky at the top of the section that would inform people that we appreciate it when they fill in their system info, and why this is important. We could also put a sample qustionaire in there to help get people started. You know, ask them things like:

Where do you do? (Hobbies, Job)
    Where are you from?
    Intel or AMD?
    ATI or nVidea?
    Favorite Games?
Have you ever overclocked one of your computers before?
If so, how long have you been overclocking?
What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?
Where did you hear about the site?

(Just the first ones I could think of off the top of my head. Suggestion needed here)

Ok, well I guess lets see what the Core Members think of this idea, and see where things go from there.

I remember correctly that when a new member first time log in or in the notify email ask you to drop an introducing post?
If this feature is already there and new members don't follow it then how well the introducing section is going to be?

Are we really want PUREOC to be a social gathering place or a place with good hardware information?

We've decided the trade section only available to Core Members, that's a previlege to be active and a VIM (very important member) to PUREOC. Become a Core Member by invitation only, we don't really base on the post count to quality Core Member. We based on the valuable of his contribuition to the community.

Well, that is my two dollar and fitty cents worth...

I've discussed this with Doc and some Core Members, and we all think it's a great idea! I'll get a new forum area set up soon for this.

    Thanks for your input Jeremy!

Just trying to do my part to help out around here. The more people we have coming to the site, the better. And, that in turn means that we have more peoples expertise, hopefully some new members for the folding team, and more pictures of setups to drool over!!
