Those of you that know of me will also know that I have put some effort into Folding at Home which is essentially Medical research using the spare power of individuals' computers.

Now to the point of this post:-

I would be the first to agree that the variations of folding that produce the most results are somewhat time intensive (they often need babysitting due to the beta nature) and can use a lot of electricity running 24/7.

I am interested to know if more of you, the members here, would be interested in supporting this type of research if it were more friendly to run and more specific in its targeting of various diseases such as cancer, aids, childhood cancer, muscular dystrophy, influenza, dengue fever etc

I am essentially asking, by means of a poll, whether or not PureOC should have a World Community Grid team

You can look at this a little more here:- http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/index.jsp

I would do it if my husband wasn't already participating in one. We have a constant ongoing calculation of whatever molecule they are working on in the background on the our main rigg.

Well folks with a total number of votes of 5 I guess there is no rush to get this off the ground. That said because I believe this to be a noble cause I will not be forgetting the idea

I agree. Im new here, new to overclocking, gaming and ect... also furthermore, Folding... so, Let me continue the research I need to do. I feel its noble, yes. Im all about that! Teh community shold participate imo. even if I have a second computer doing the folding alone! This is promotable, and will get results. More will follow and help. I think a global network is a great idea. in fact should be done...
creating a specific network, or internet, for this cause should have been consolidated into one large network already. but we humans seem to take our sweet ass time sometimes...

I have a spare comp collecting dust at this time, which would serve to participate in a folding network. Any effort put forward to assist one's fellow man is a noble cause. I am seriously considering your idea sir.

Well then, I will discuss this with Stan and Jake and, if they are in agreement, I propose that we start a small team. How about first day being 1st Jan? make life easy when looking at stats.
