    Default Work Experience, Tomorrow

Hi all, I have work experience tomorrow, unfortunately it is only one day in the USA, but one day is better than none! I am going to shadow the Manager of PC Repair and Technician at Firedog. My times are from 10:00 till 17:30 (16:00 - 23:30 UK Time zone) Hopefully I have some computer problems to think about and hopefully I can build something I will let you know how it goes when I finish tomorrow

I just will not be able to sleep for this, I am seriously excited. The firedog is a bright green dog from memory, the website for firedog is http://firedog.com/index.html . Its very expensive, a simple re-install is like $229.00! They certainly know how to make their money!

BTW. I built some computers at school today for the school library, I am very surprised at their specifications for a library computer!

    Intel Core Duo E6600
    2GB DDR2 RAM
    320GB Hard Disk Space
    Windows XP Professional

I mean, that is highly overkill for a simple school library PC!

Wow, They must figure that its cheaper to get really good PC's that will last a long time rather than cheap ones that need to be replaced every year.

    My schools computers have a

2.6Ghz Celeron D (You get the odd P4)
    256m DDR memory
    40G HDD
    And of course win XP

    And there the good ones.

Work experience was wonderful, this is what I did during the day.

    10:00 - Waited for manager
10:30 - Got told to go home and come back at 12
12:00 - Got a tour of the store, warehouse etc (went into Computer gamers dream, rows and rows of CPUs, Memory, Video Cards, HDDs, Sound Cards, Flat screens)
13:00 - Made a customer angry by telling him that his part has not arrived at shipment
14:00 - Built a brand new PC, sold later that day for $780.00 (AMD Athlon 64 3800+, 1GB RAM, 250GB HDD, Integrated Video, Integrated Sound, Windows Vista Basic)
15:00 - Replaced a motherboard on a dead HP Pavilion PC
16:00 - Repaired a copy of Windows XP MCE by re-installing
17:00 - Got given a free 1GB Firedog Flash Drive, Microsoft Office Tattoos, Windows Vista Key Chain, Firedog Official Book (for firedogs only)
17:30 - Time to go home.

Excellent day :-D, Wish I could do it daily.

my school uses macs, and sucky ones. And then all the teachers complain when nothing works. Now they'r having to spend thousands turning everthing into p.c!
most of the macs have a 400mghz processor and 256mb of RAM if my memory is correct.
thankfully though we do have some p.c's (and good ones) for graphical things.
