Default Battlefield 3 Expected Second Half of 2011

    http://www.independent.co.uk/life-st...1-2165628.html

Further confirmation that Battlefield 3 will be out late in 2011 came in the form an interview with Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitello.
Speaking to IndustryGamers, Riccitello summarised the company's planned output in the first-person shooter genre as comprising "Crysis 2 and Bulletstorm, and then our big focus is Battlefield 3 in the second half of the year."
The series, which started out on PC and Mac, has been boosted by a (so far) console-only Battlefield 1943 launching in 2009 and the multi-platform Bad Company 2 in 2010, with its Vietnam-themed expansion scheduled for December.
EA are chasing the 25 million per annum sales of Activision's Call of Duty series, whose Modern Warfare 2 (November 2009) shifted 20 million copies on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 by June 2010, and Black Ops (November 2010) achieved 8.4 million first-month unit sales in North America alone.
The Vietnam expansion had avoided a scheduling conflict with Call of Duty: Black Ops by choosing not to issue a firm release date until after Black Ops' retail release. However, a second-half 2011 window for Battlefield 3 could indicate that EA are ready to go toe-to-toe with Activision in a holiday season showdown.
Purchasers of the Medal of Honor Limited Edition had been promised an invitation to the Battlefield 3 beta testing phase within twelve months of Medal of Honor's October 2010 release.
