    Default Dual Channel Memory Positioning

Help !! I am in the process of starting my first ever build and am confused about the placement of the DIMM DDR3 sticks. My MOBO (MSI 770-G45) says for Dual Channel, place the Dimm's in the first two slots but I thought for dual channel that you alternated slots i.e. 1&3 and 2&4. What should I do?

I would set it up the way the manual explains it. They may pair the slots differently then they used to on DDR2 mobos. During bootup you should see something like Dual Channel enabled or you can always run CPU-Z to verify.

Yeah, check the manual it usually tells you slots according to the color codes on the motherboard

Correct, if you look at the board you will see slots 1&2 are black while 3&4 are blue.
