    Default Upgrade my Sound System

Hey guys, since I am rebuilding my whole cooling system I also wanted to look into getting a new audio system.

I have a Creative Sounblaster X Sound Card, and would like a surround sound system.
5.1 or 7.1 with a Subwoofer, or whatever you recommend best currently on the market, regarding Surround Sound

My current Audio setup is this:http://www.conrad.at/ce/de/product/9...0/?ref=detview

It is still working, so maybe you will recommend something to combine it with or I don´t know^^.

My budget is about 200€, I hope some Audio Pros can help out

i would look at some broadcast quality nearfield monitors. you can sometimes get a deal on closeouts, but unfortunately, your budget does not allow for anything that woud be much better than what you are using, atm, as there is somewhat of a price gap once you go beyond creative/logitech.

If in my price range there really are no lucrative sourround options, maybe I could invest in an addition to my current system?

Something like this maybe? (Passive sound systems)

those are somewhat overpriced for what you really get. you may want to just get a decent set of headphones ($200 or so), and a desktop headphone dac, unless the dacs in your present sound card are adequate. i use genelec nearfields/sub, and even with their decent soundstage, a good set of headphones (sennheiser are nice, and you can get a quality set from online sales quite often) can give you a deeper immersion at times.

That is my sound card, yes.
And now I need a new audio system for it, preferably 5.1/7.1 or just an addition/enhancement of my current system.

this is an entry nearfield, that has a big sound (paired with a sub). you might be surprised with a quality 2.1 setup: some of these 2.1 can give a very nice, palpable soundstage, so much so that you may save a bit, or you can add on later if you decide to have rear speakers. you should need no center with something like this, unless you are strictly running 5.1/7.1 decoded audio, and even then, you may miss out on detail, depending on how far/near from/in the sweetspot you are to the drivers

I really like mine, But as to speakers might check this company out.
I used to run thier 4.1 setup for years and finally lost the Sub and went to the Bose Speakers.

my first computer speaker system was the klipsch pro. i think you will find them in line with what you already have, unless you just want to spend money fruitlessly. an alternative, and going with a passive speaker setup, is to construct your own from popular modern plans, using quality drivers (supply houses have the drivers that go into many of the high quality pre made monitors, but can be had for a song), so you could build your own very high quality monitors.

I have just spent 700€ total on Watercooling.
I also had to lay out 240€ for the repair fees of my 42" Full HD (My stupid girlfriend wanted me to catch her because she saw it in a movie and thought it was cute, as a result trashed my baby-.-).

My money situation is kind of rough, but I could do 300€ if necessary for audio, which it is.
Why do all audio freaks hate passive speakers so much^^?
The link I posted earlier also has active ones in it, did you check them out?

passive are fine, it's just having the quality power/crossovers you get in the upper priced active units. you notice in the higher level self powered 2 driver units, that each driver has it's 'own' power available to it, along with quality xovers. i just spent $60 in parts for a single passive monitors xover. just the xover. now, it will take upwards of 700 watts rms, but it can get expensive, and this is a basic passive xover. if you spent 700 for water, but only have a 200 budget for audio, i'd hang with what you have, atm. i spent $1700 on my computers 2.1 speaker system, plus hundreds more on a separate desktop dac, and a stand alone studio quality analog volume knob, not to mention the audio card with upgradeable dacs, balanced cables, etc., ( alas, the audio card is pci, so i can't use it on my present z68 'gamer' board... ).
