    Default Building a computer

    Figured it would be a good idea to make an actual topic for this. So far I've gathered a couple ideas and componants.
    I'm going to use this one for programming and gaming. Probably some more emphasis on gaming. I don't think I'll be ordering any parts or building this for a couple months. I'd like to see how the give away turns out, and how my savings look at the end of the summer. Far as a budget, roughly $1400. If I can get under, excellent.

    I'm certianly willing to trade parts out for better bang for my buck pieces. I'd like to try liquid cooling for the experience. I would be moving the computer from time to time, so its not going to sit in one place for very long. A smaller case would be great.

    Thank you all in advance.

    Plextor makes great SSDs and prices have come down. 5 year warranty is a big plus and they are very fast. Newegg.com - Computer Hardware, Hard Drives, SSD, Internal SSD, Plextor

    I would go with a GTX 670 for the GPU. Best bang for the buck right now. Newegg.com - Computer Hardware, Video Cards & Video Devices, Desktop Graphics Cards, GeForce GTX 600 series, GeForce GTX 670

    Get the Asetek 570LX for closed loop waco. Cheap and very effective. Asetek 570LX High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler little larger then Corsair H100 | eBay

    Get this 4 in 1 PWM cable with it so you can run all the fans for the 570LX off of one PWM header and a molex. GELID PWM 1-TO-4 Cable Splitter Adapter Share Case Fan | eBay

    Use 4 Noctua NF-F12 PWM fans on the 570LX. They are expensive but worth every penny. Noctua Fan NF-F12 PWM Fan with Focused Flow SO2 Bearing | eBay

    Here's a great case. It's full tower, but has a nice handle for moving it. Will give you plenty of room for upgrades and to install the 570LX with push/pull fans. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119245

    As for a PSU, go with a 750W Corsair or Seasonic. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...9016&Tpk=AX750 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817151087

    You do realize the motherboard you chose is a micro ATX board, right. I think this is a better board for not much more cabbage. Newegg.com - ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

    You can make a great budget PC for about $1000. My cousin built his and his brother's PC for both about 1K each. They can play SC2, Skyrim and Diablo 3 on Ultra High settings with out any hiccups.

    I don't quite remember the build but I was impressed with how both PC's performed, especially for the price.

    I recommend shopping on Newegg as there is always deals and sales there.

    I updated the list.

    @sam
    Thanks, I'm certainly going to look around to try and push the price down.

    @Quick
    Yeah, I check newegg pretty regularly for deals. It helps to know what I'm looking for though.

    If you look at the latest review. The MSI Z77 GD55 is a good board and a good price.. Take a look at the reviews and talk to Jim.. he may point you in the right direction..But the Sabertooth is a good board also...

    You're welcome. I wouldn't wait to buy the Asetek 570LX off of ebay. When they are gone they are gone for good. These units aren't suppose to be available for sale to the general public so I'd get one now if you can afford the $80. There is simply no better cooling solution for the money available right now.

    I would get my build and buy Stans SSD. We could get it together for $1000 or less and you could choose what motherboard from the list I sent ya. This would be coupled with a 2600K and radeon 6970 plus case, psu, memory cooler ect....
