i might be looking for an SSD in my future too. always had my eye on the Crucial M4 and the Samsung 830 as i hear they are very reliable and dont use sandforce controllers.

OCZ is going to get an influx of R&D money, Seagate is extremely interested in aquiring OCZ and that would give OCZ the money they need to continue to push out new firmwares and new controllers, they had a bad run with the Vertex 3 but that has been fixed with firmware updates. I like the stock here, because if this merger happens OCZ will soar.

Even without the merger with Seagate, OCZ is a forward thinking company. They're always introducing newer, better prodcts and undercutting other suppliers prices too. Their pricing has resulted in overall lower prices in the SSD market while the other guys try to keep up.
Seagate blew it years ago when they said that SSDs were never gonna be big and refused to get involved in the market. Western Digital thought that we were all stuck on their 10,000rpm Raptor Drives and got into the market late too.
Now that SSD drives are finally coming into their own, everybody wants a piece of the pie.
