The other day my PC shut down cold turkey. Just dead. When I pushed the power button, it struggled 3 times to start, then finally powered back on. Today it did it again, but this time I wasn't able to revive it. I investigated the cause and found this:
I can't think of what could have caused this other than human error, or just the age of the PSU. The black you see in the holes is melted plastic from the 20-pin and 4-pin connectors. I tried to scrape out the plastic the best I could, then bent the pins back as straight as I could and luckily it started back up! I can't afford to not have my PC up and running since I'm in school. I figured I'd share this with you guys because it's so bizarre. (i think it is, anyway.)
