I was just wondering if anyone tried them out or had a friend that's upgraded to either yet? If I keep my AMD build I want to upgrade my sound card.

I own the Recon3D and it's good for gaming, but not for music. See if you can get an X-fi.

I have a Creative Labs X-Fi Sound card and love it. I have it installed in a HTPC and I have it hooked up to my Pioneer Elite rec. via optical cable and the sound is amazing compared to On board. Also to justify the cost make sure you are using speakers that can bring its potential out. If you use crappy speakers its a waste of money.

Love the Xonar cards, excellent for gaming and music. I use them in my own rigs and any rig I build as well. Highly recommend.
