Default Toshiba cutting warranties for all OCZ’s non-SSD products

Toshiba is cutting warranties for all OCZ’s non-SSD products as they take over OCZ. As 2013 came to its end Toshiba came to terms about buying out the bankrupted company called OCZ for around $35 million in a package deal that included all of OCZ’z assets, their R&D team and all their SSD technology. We see that the brand name OCZ continues on as OCZ Storage Solutions, but after the takeover it seems many of the products warranties have been derailed as seen by recent reports on the company.
There is some good news in all of this, and if you are a person who just bought yourself a high-end OCZ SSD it seems that you are one of the lucky ones still covered by a warranty. Toshiba has stated that will openly honor all Vertex, Vector and RevoDrives warranties. Warranties for other SSD products such as the mid-range Agility drives that were originally under a 3-year warranty have all been shortened and will now officially end on January 22 2015.
Here is where it gets bad though as “All” other SSD and other products by OCZ such as PSUs, DRAM modules, DIY notebooks and USB drives will no longer have any warranty at all. The really screwed up thing about this though is that some retailers are still selling these products on their sites even though there is no longer a warranty so be wary and aware of this when shopping. This is a really BS move by many companies due to the fact that the product has zero warranty time right at the time of purchase. For buyers in other countries this crap may not fly as there are strict consumer protection laws in many areas that will still protect you so do your homework before buying anything. Happy Monday everyone and thanks for reading Tech Of Tomorrow.

I really don't blame Toshiba for not keeping warranties to products they aren't making. How do you warranty a psu when your company doesn't even make them? I mostly blame OCZ for making too many sub par SSD's which was most likely the main contributing factor to them going bankrupt.

As far as other companies selling left over OCZ stuff; I would by something at a huge discount, especially if they made it very clear that there is no warranty on the product. I'd consider it a great deal, but if they are still selling stuff at full retail and leaving the warranty mentions in the typical small print so it's easy to miss, I'd say that was pretty shady. Checked newegg and not only are they selling things at the normal prices, but they still show having warranties. That really should be updated.
