    Default Need some advice

So I'm currently building a new rig solely for gaming and the processor I have chosen is an i5 4670k but I cannot choose between two different cooling options

The coolers I have in mind and are:

Corsair h100i closed loop water cooler
    Or
A be quiet dark rock pro 3 air cooler

    Any advice ???

Really either way you go you can't go wrong. There might be a few 100 MHz or so extra you could get out of the H100i when overclocking, but if your 4670K is a bust at overclocking then it won't matter too much either way anyway lol. Really though it all depends on your ambient temperatures, since air cooling seems to respond more with changes in ambient temps than water cooling does on account of the whole cooling process with watercooling also involving convection on top of conduction and radiation. Water cooling responds less to ambient temperature changes though it is still affected (just not by as much). I personally really like both cooling solutions, but if I had it to do all over again I'd probably buy the Dark Rock Pro 3 solely because it's intensely quiet by comparison, even with the fans at their maximum RPM in comparison to the H100i.

However, if you REALLY have your heart set on considering a closed loop cooling solution, then I would either go for the H110 if your case can support it, or if you have enough room for a 40mm thick rad then wait on availability for the H105. Basically the same thing as the H100i, only it lacks the RGB's that will probably break anyway and the CorsairLink software that is buggy in certain systems. It also cools noticeably better than the H100i does as a result of the increased total surface area.

welcome to PureOC. if you plan to overclock the 4670k go with the H100i but the Cooler Master Glacier 240L/Swiftech H220 would be better choice for just a little more money.
