Default USB 3.1 Is on Its Way

USB 3.0 is the most widely used data transfer method among PCs, tablets, hybrids, and smartphones. USB 3.0 has been around for a while now, and, to date, it has only one rival—Intel’s Thunderbolt technology, which is found primarily in Apple’s laptops and desktops. Despite the fact that Thunderbolt is twice as fast as USB 3.0 (10Gbps versus 5Gbps), due to its ability to charge peripherals, and the fact that it’s much cheaper to deploy, USB technology remains far more desirable among users and manufacturers alike.
Dubbed “SuperSpeed USB” by usb.org and USB product developers, USB 3.0 is on the verge of being replaced by Universal Serial Bus Revision 3.1, also known as “SuperSpeed+ USB” in the not-too-distant future.

I would be happy if it were only standardizing plugs, the rest is gravy. Really happy to see this.

Default Re: USB 3.1 Is on Its Way

I like this new USB Standard,......ThunderScrew never has had any appeal to me. Intel designed ThunderJackYou originally, and they called it "LightPeak". It was supposed to be the solution for slow USB 2.0 speeds.
But Apple's exclusivity deal with Intel to ~keep it proprietary~ for one year kept it from being offered to most of us. This really pissed me off. Then, Apple priced it so high that only the rich could buy into it.
Apple ruined it for the masses, so I'm glad to see USB 3.1 smack down upon them.
USB 3.0 is plenty fast and costs are nothing compared to Thunderdumb, and this promises much more. Yeah!
