Default Maximus Formula SE Sound Problem

Hello, brand new member here and after searching the forums I wasn't sure my post should go in the dedicated Maximus Formula thread so to be on the safe side I threw it here.

I just put my new system together yesterday and things have been ok so far except I do not have any sound. I used the Asus update and installed BIOS version 907 and then today I thought I'd like to play a game and just assumed the SupremeFX II card would work.

It is lighting up blue, seems to be no problems in the device hardware area but just no sound. I opened up the SoundMax control panel and then fired up the wizard and the level indicator is fluctating green (as if sound is playing) but nothing is coming out of the speakers or headphones. I'm plugged into the 'green' plug on the card, I've checked the BIOS to ensure everything 'enabled' but nothing.

Any ideas where I start next?

As well I'm actually using the Thermalright Ultra Extreme 120 cooler but I didn't install that little fan that came in the box since I was aircooling the system, should this be installed?

    Thank you.

I figured out the sound card problem. After updating the new Windows install, a new Microsoft HD Audio driver was installed, I removed the update, reinstalled the SoundMax driver and works perfectly.

Thanks, it sure seems to be a nice system. Even stock it seems pretty good.
