Default Gigabyte Announces GTX 980 WaterForce Tri-SLI

Gigabyte announced the GeForce GTX 980 WaterForce Tri-SLI (model: GV-N980X3WA-4GD), arguably the highest pixel-crunching power that ever came out of a single box. This contraption is a trio of GeForce GTX 980 graphics cards, with a factory-fitted liquid cooling loop, which sits outside your case. Each of the three cards features a factory-overclocked GTX 980 chip featuring 1228 MHz core, 1329 MHz GPU Boost, and 7.00 GHz memory; with a liquid-cooling pump-block over the GPU, and a base-plate that conveys heat from the memory and VRM to that block, using heat-pipes.

I saw this on Face Book yesterday. It is a cool idea. But it cant be cheep. Also it would look killer on a Cooler Master Half Stacker.

It looks very awkward and clumsy mounted on the top of the case with all those tubes entering in the front 5.25" bay.

    Always look beyond the limits...

Looks to be three slim 120mm AIO rads one for each GPU in a pull only out of that box? forget it!
I wonder what kind of performance it would bring. and if I could lift those rads and add three more fans
for a push pull would have been a bit better. I like the adjustable support to hold the weight of all three cards
But the encloser is really big and sitting up top would interfer with flow from the top of the case
The outside design should have clean lines so it would look good on any case.
And if you dont have a long enough case to support it, it will probably end up on your floor or desktop
its butt ugly as well with 6 tubes entering the front of the case instead of the back.
Nice idea but to me the design itself is a big fail!

I think it would look cool on certain cases. Like the DeepCool Steam Castle, Haf stacker and a couple others. If you put it on a case labs or H440 it would look stupid as hell.

I just want the 3 980s. It can look like crap and Ill be happy with them 980s

They take up all that room and all they could come up with was slapping on 3 120mm AiOs????????

I can't come up with a reaction that properly expresses how I feel about that without profanity or use of terms that are not PC. Who designed this thing, a 5th grader and his pet monkey?

Default Re: Asus ROG Poseidon GTX 980

This is what really kills me first off, if you could afford the three 980's why would you not do a custom watercooling loop instead?
Their are so many better options then those three 120mm AIO's in a box to show off your system with those three cards inside.
Like I said it's an epic Fail!!!

Their are so many better options then those three 120mm AIO's in a box to show off your system with those three cards inside.
Like I said it's an epic Fail!!!

I would take it if it was given to me but I don't think I would go out and buy one. Custom loops are more fun to build and perform better. However the GB thing is for those that are afraid of waco but want max performance. Better than air but without the hassle of custom waco. Niche, very niche

Don't think the radiators can provide adequate cooling

They can. Temps will be significantly better than air, but not reasonable design custom loop worthy. We have seen 120mm AiO cool even 290Xs without any difficulty.

Have to agree that it is a niche product for sure, but if you already have 3 Gigabyte GTX 980 cards, and /or would like to see some benchmarks, check out this NewEgg promo video, for a better look at the thing with some bench mark scores.
