    Default PSU question...

I have a Rosewill Hive 750 watt psu that I am quite happy with as far as the psu itself goes. The cables are another matter. The pci-e cables are too short to rout through the back and the other problem is they're flat. I don't know what it is people like so much about them, but for me, it's like "WE HATES THEM, HATES THEM, WE HATES THEM FOREVER, AAAAAGH!" Anyway, I'd like to get some regular sleeved cables to replace them with, if the price is right. So, who supplies the psu's for the Rosewill brand so I can find what I'm looking for?

Ah...flat cables. Also known as "the most inexpensive cables to produce". They are nothing short of awful. When the marketing companies saw the price difference from the oem, they started spinning the "easier to route, better airflow" line of bunk. Of course they offer neither and are just really annoying to work with and look terrible.

Since you have all of that room in the back of the Primo, a more cost effective solution may be some quality extensions like the NZXT or Bitfenix Alchemy. They will give you added length along with a nice appearance in the component case side. I used them in my own Primo, simply because I am partial to be quiet! PSUs, but hate the sleeving on their cables. From the front it appears I have all sleeved cables without the major expense, headache or voiding the warranty.

I have two of the Hive PSUs. One has flat cables and the other (the first one) has sleeved.

    I prefer the flat TBO.

    Custom Cables
I've used ModDIY (The Custom Cables link), and while their shipping is steep since they are in Hong Kong, their products are great. I've bought a number of OCZ Platinum compatible PSU cables (PCI-E, SATA Power, MB Power, etc), and they are excellent, I've specified custom lengths every time, and they come exactly as ordered.

I try to source sleeved SATA cables and Y-Adapters from places here in the states, but for the PSU cables, I'm a fan of ModDIY.
