Default Xion Predator 970 case fan replacement

This is my first time on this forum so please be kind if I'm completely in the wrong place. I have a Xion Predator 970 case and the fan behind the front grill has stopped working. I opened the case thinking it would be an easy fix to replace the fan. The problem is, I can't figure out how to get to the fan. Does anybody know how to do this? It's not exposed from the inside so I'm sure I'm supposed to remove something to get to it. I'm just not sure what. I would appreciate any help you could give me on this. I've always had Antec cases before this one so I'm not too familiar with the Xion.

Hi Barbara and welcome to Pureoverclock and you have come to the right place plenty of great folks here to lend a helping hand
when you get a chance fill in your system specs and profile it makes things a lot easier for us to help with other issues that may pop up
again welcome, and make yourself at home.

Below is a link to our review on this case the link is on the page you need
there are 3 tabs on each side of the inside front of the case and visible once both side doors are removed
Gently push in and forward on the tabs from top to bottom to release the front fascia to reveal the front intake fan for removal and or replacement.

Sorry I haven't answered you sooner but I'm in Houston, Tx and we are having some weather issues. I just got my power back after being without for 16 hours. I was thrilled when I finally got back online & saw your reply. Thank you so much vinman. I would never have found that. I really appreciate you taking the time to help me. I may ask you later about the installation if I run into a problem. It's so nice to find a forum where people don't try to make you look like a dummy because you don't know something. I entered my PC specs in my profile but I notice they're not showing up beside my post so I'll have to take another look at that. Again, thank you. I have gotten the front off.

While you have the fascia open track down the fan wire and plug and make sure its securely plunged into the Motherboard before you think about changing it out.

Install should be a breeze trace the fan wire and undo it from the Motherboard or what ever it may be plugged into. gently pull it back to were the fan is, remove
the four self-treading screws holding it in place with a Philips screwdriver remember (lefty lousee righty tighty) place the new one in the same direction as the old which is intake not exhaust screw it on, reroute the fan wire back through to were it came out and plug it in, your done.

On your system specs, I saw where you filled them out, but at the bottom you didn't enable "show System Specs".

Just change that setting and you're good to go.

You are such a blessing vinman. I opened the fascia and cleaned the front and the fan real good and then I booted the PC and the fan started spinning very slowly. I let it go ahead and boot completely and the fan continued to spin but still very slowly. I assume it's about to go out so will get a replacement fan for it. I did try tracing the wire to the motherboard but the wiring is tied together so tight that it's hard to figure out which wire goes to the fan. I hate to but may have to cut the binding in order to separate the wires. Can you tell me if the wire is a 4 pin and if the blue light is part of the fan? I assume it is so I want to order a fan like this one. I so appreciate your help and your knowledge. I think I got my settings changed so my specs will show up. Thanks for telling me how to do that.

Thanks a lot vinman. I just ordered it. It finally started running faster last night but it sounded like it was about to throw a rod.

I don't think so but I'll try to take a look at it tomorrow and let you know. That would be a simple fix.

Default Re: Xion Predator 970 case fan replacement

I did have to tap on the screen in the front to get the fan to start up.

Yeah make sure its not rubbing against the screen that would slow it down and eventually kill it.
Your going to get better air flow off the new one anyways, you will have to cut the bindings off if they are zip ties, to remove the fan cable.
But you can redo them with new zip ties when your done just be careful you don't cut any wires in the process LOL!

Will do vinman. I'll let you know how I do when I get the fan. I ordered it from Amazon since I have Prime and didn't want to pay shipping. They guarantee that it will be here Monday so I should be able to try to get it done Tuesday. I have already had to cut the zip ties because when they shipped the computer to me they put in the wrong card reader and they had to send me a replacement. I hated to cut the zip ties because they had the wiring bundled so nicely but there's no way to replace something without doing it. I sure do appreciate all the help you have given me. When I get a few minutes I'm going to read the review that you sent me the link for. When I ordered the computer I liked all the features of the case but haven't really studied the features since I've had it. I used to just build my own computer but decided it's just as cheap and a lot less trouble if I just order it the way I want it and let them do the building.
