Two weeks ago, I was in that dilemma, I thought, Integrated sounded FANTASTIC, bought a sound card, and there is such a big difference that I cannot even express it. Lets just say, you have not heard your games/music correctly at all!

Because you have the Platnium the remote comes with it, but i will prob get Xtreme Music if any, but it dosent come with any extras, so i can buy a remote seperate.

BTW say what, do you like the software and all the different modes?

yes i love the modes it has great "game bass" and its pretty easy to use and you can buy the front panel from creative.com so you can upgrade a XM so you can have platinum, fata1ity functionality.

also creative has GREAT customer service! they will replace parts and ship it out with fedex 2day if your really polite. overall im very satisfied with this card. the only "bad" thing is the ribbon cable tey use but a extreme music dosent even use it sooo......

Iwish some one could explain to me what extra i'd get buying a card like this, i've always felt that if i'm looking for a dedicated sound card i'd buy a proper pro card from M-audio or EMU (and have done so in the past)

What exactly makes these cards so good?

I wasn't really talking about mobo sound, more why choose a creative card over a professional card? Is it just for the EAX and all that stuff?

At the moment i have no reason to get a dedicated card as my headphones are held together by tape lol

I don't know much about sound cards but I will tell you this. As a devoted BF2 player the X-Fi is damn near a MUST HAVE for the game. I could not believe the difference in sound over the onboard vs the X-Fi card. Hearing people walking up ladders behind you. The tank rolling with clicks and bangs that you never heard before. I actually lowered the sound on my headphones and my playing woke my wife up from upstairs because the gunshots were so CRISP with the new soundcard.

Any other game or any other sound cards I couldn't tell you what would be better but when it comes to BF2 and X-Fi the results were crazy.
