Talking New motherboard .. what is all needed..?

Im thinking about swapping out my motherboard with one that is Core 2 Duo compatible, and one that will allow me to overclock my Pentium D. Will i need to install a fresh copy of Windows , or will the new motherboard just boot up.
Also if i may need anything else to complete this change , please let me know

    Thanx

I actually just installed my new mobo and honestly didnt reinstall windows or anything, was detected automatically but had to reregister windows when i did. Other than that i didnt really need to do much besides install drivers etc for the motherboard. but i know some people do actually reinstall windows just to be safe, me personally ive yet to have any problems when putting in a new motherboard and just booting right up.

Sounds good, i may just grab a copy of Vista or XP just to be safe. I wanna upgrade from my Pentium D to a Wolfdale... probably the E8400. Intel boards suck for overclocking... On my 955xbk i was only able to overclock my 3.0 to a 3.04 ... and the FSB change wasnt even worth a boost lol

Thank you so much for the reply

Be prepared, however, to reinstall Windows. Try swapping the mobo straight up, but there's a good chance it won't work and you'll need to reinstall. If it doesn't work, you'll know because your system will either hang at Windows loadup or you'll get the good old Blue Screen Of Death.

Make sure you back up any data first, and try uninstalling ALL drivers. ALL of them. This may help, but no guarantee. Good luck, less us know how it goes!!

This is a pain in the butt but a fresh install Windows after you swapping MOBO is the safetest way, so you won't have any hiccups with the OS later on.
