Default First time WinXP reinstall, HELP

I have a question about what would be the best way to go about installing a new motherboard and processor and doing a reinstallation on Windows XP. Mainly want to know can I do this all at once or do I need to get the hardware in first. My first time doing both so I will say it..."IMANOOB!!!!!!!!!"

Oh, and don't use chipset drivers etc that came with board....probably outdated.
Grab relevant drivers from your boards website/nvidia/ATI etc.

I guess im a lil slow and need to make sure twice over that I know what im doing before I install anything. Should I uninstall the controllers for the IDE, floppy etc or will the new install of Win XP take care of this for me? Also is it as easy as just installing the new parts and then turning the PC and booting from my XP CD?

Any links to helpful articles anyone knows of, It'd be great to have a step by step. Thanks for your replies all!

how many hard drives partitions do you have (C, D, E, etc) and not including dvd drives.

Do you have any important files on C:?

When going for a fresh install of Windows you'll want to delete your C: partition and create it again, then install windows on C:, this should all be clear as you install windows, but if you want more details i can explain.

Just make sure that every single files you do not wish to lose is off C: otherwise it'll be gone forever, this includes any emails or address books.

reinstalling windows is a pain in the ass.

The only partition I have is C, the drive itself. I'll just wait to see what types of problems I run into when I get going on the upgrade, prolly this coming weekend. We'll see what's up then, luckily I have my gf comp to rely on if I'm in desparate need of help. Thanks a lot for the help PureOverclock!! This forum is one of the best around.
