Question Black screen before log on

Hi there, I am having a minor problem when I boot up or restart my computer. Everything is as normal up until after my windows loading screen with the scrolling blue bar. After this my screen goes black, switches off and then switches back on! So I have to wait 5-7 seconds until the startup screen shows my account. I tried another monitor to see if mine was going dead but it was the same thing. Is this a problem with my videocard, if so how could i change this. Any input?

It more than likely is your video card, although I do not know what to do to change it? Maybe update your graphics drivers (if update is avaliable)?

well the x1600 is not overclocked but maybe i'll try to get the previous drivers installed and see if that works.

i've experienced something similar with ATI cards before but never worked out what caused it and it wouldn't happen every time either, it's annoying though.

yea, definetly is. What'ya think of returning this x1600, which I bought at an inflated price from bestbuy and ordering a 7600GT online??

With my 1900xt the screen blacks for about 2 seconds between the login screen and loading the desktop.
Monitor doesn't go off.....just a lil 2 sec delay on screen.

Assume my card is ok cos it's been folding for a few days.
Get a 1900xt and get folding on it
Lounging at the the folders clubhouse
    X2 3800+/3000+ Newc/3100+ Sempy/3100+ Sempy/800 Duron....13 ghz of AMD folding goodness.....and a 1900xt
