    Default NZXT Sentry LX

    Hello fellas,

I am thinking of getting the NZXT sentry LX for fan control. I read the review on this site, and on others. Top notch product. My concern here is this.

I have a CoolerMaster 932 HAF case. it has 3 230MM fans, i read a few places that said it that the NXZT had a hard time with these big fans? Also as mentioned in the review here it only comes with 3 pin connectors. And my fan is 4. Where would one find adapters? Or as i read on 1 review site, they took wire clips and sniped the sideof the plastic housing to allow the 4 pin to fit?

    let me know your thoughts.

I would ask what fans you intend to use with this....Yes I know historically I have tended to use bigger fans than most but I would be wary of the 4 watts per channel limit.

My use of a controller is to run big fans (Deltas) at lower speeds unless benching when the noise is not important. They each draw around 1.6amps!!

You on the other hand may be thinking differently so 0.33amp max per channel could be ok

Well i currently have 3 230Mm fans and 1 140mm fan i play on using. My 230 go about roughly 500-700rpm's really slow. i am just wanting a device to control my fans speeds to keep the case cool.

no i can replace 1 230mm fan and put up to 4 120Mm fans in its spot. As far as this voltage and watt stuff, you lost me. I a new to the building thing and learning as i go.

So if you could elaborate a bit more i would appreciate it.

I think the big fans are 0.4 amps can't quite read this

When calculating dc power (watts) multiply Volts * Amps so if I have read the label right your fan is rated at 12v * 0.4 amps = 4.8watts.

This figure is set in stone for this fan unless an external mod is added (not so good with a controller as it kind of defeats the purpose of the controller)

If you look at the other fan labels you can get the same info and calculate for each.

If I were you I would look at other controllers too. A while back Deton did a quick comparison here.

also look at: http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/fancontrollers.html for some alternates.

Armed with your new knowledge you may find what you are looking for.

Feel free to ask more.....we can usually find an answer

most average fan controllers have 4-6 channels and each channel have 7 watts max, that is enough power to handle most average 120mm fan with 4-5w, and the controller regulate voltage from 5-12v. Unless you use high power fans then you should check its specification and also check fan controller as well.

So most controller channel handle one fan per channel unless you connect 2 or 3 fans in series then you can use one channel to controll all fans in that series but they're only run half of its power.

Get back to your HAF 230mm fans, I don't think they are high power fans but check its specs to make sure. They are just over size fans to move more air at slow speed, that the advantage of over size fans, move more air at slow speed.

many computer shops who sell components, normally has adapters.. i just bough adapter what makes normal fan mb connector to molex connector..2.5eur..so they are cheap..im now on work, sry im not reading all answers ppl send here, but if you buy fan controller, make sure your fans are not pwm fans..
because pwm fans works with temperatures. if its getting hot, more speed and conversely. I work on computer company and just had a job to make customer pc more silent..it had pwm fans..i used software to lower the rpm..so the point is, if you plan to make less noise, its not 100%, do it work.
IMA only..and just a little "good to remember"

EDIT..uhm, now readed rest of answers, you can first try program called Speedfan. It is free to download/use (DL by using google). It allows you to set RPM on fans manually BUT if you have the pwm fans, its not 100% sure, do it work. You can hear, if it works And one more option to think, is replacing possible pwm fans to normal fans kk, too much to think.
