Since you do a lot of multitasking and gfrx then Core i7 or AMD X4 procs for sure, the 9xx series.
Both support Hyperthreading, this will help your multitasking will be smoother especially with graphic programs.

Core i7 9xx is a little over $200USD range but you can get AMD X4 9xx for under $200.

Do you alreally have a modo?

However, the standard quad procs (no hyperthread) will doing fine with multitask as well. This procs is definetly under $200. Intel just released Core i5 and one of the heck performance chip.

You need to find out how many of your software is multi threaded then you can pick the right CPU for the bank of your buck.

Like Deton said you can buy the AMD X4 955BE for $199, what motherboard do you have, and what processor are you currently running?

If you did indeed mean $200 USD, then I personally don't know of a way that you can get what you are looking for. Not even with AMD will you be able to get a quad-core, 8GB of memory and a mobo for under $200.

It can be not too far from the required specs.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103288 - AMD Phenom 9650 Quad Core
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813157158 - AM2+ Motherboard\
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820161183 - 4GB DDR2 RAM

But that is basic stuff, would be very helpful to know whether you need just the processor, or RAM/CPU/Mobo.

He was talking about a processor only, he didn't say about a new build or upgrading.
