    Default Microsoft Security Essentials

    Hi,

Just thought would pass this along as to MSE.

Been over 7 years since picking up a virus off the net.
Been uploading and D/Ling music off a favorite music site have used for a long time and
    no problems.

Have used alot of programs, some free, some not.
    Run MSE and Spy-Bot now.

Using it tonight and all of a sudden MSE pop ups appear and goes red as to two problems.
Never have seen MSE go into action but impressive.

Think I'll keep it around and updated from now on.

It's great when your AV Prog picks up on a threat and neutralizes it before it can mess you up.
That's why I use AVAST Free version ~~AND~~ MSE on my PC's.
I get the occasional alert too, but it's usually AVAST that catches it first.

Don't know if Spy-Bot picked it up but didn't want to open any programs until it was taken care of.

MSE blocked it but had to manually take care of the problem.
Alot of Nasty people out there with way to much time on thier hands.

MSE caught some spyware for me about 3 weeks ago. It was impressive to watch the program in action.

Question: I've always thought/been told that running multiple AV programs is a no-no. I see you guys do. Wondering if I should too and, if so, which one in addition to MSE?

I have MSE and AVAST running together. have had this setup for ages and have no issues.
some say that multiple AV's will slow down your PC.
    Nothing slows these brutes down,......

Try it out and see for yourself,.....it's AVAST Free version.

I use to use Avast in my old Win98se machines as was I believe, the last AV program to support that OS.
Running the paid for at the time.

Caught a few and believe was the app was using at the time of last problem.

Have been kinda of lax as to updating MSE as been manually keeping it up to date.
    Changed that option after this.
Auto D/L and apply and scheduled scans from now on.
Nothing like having to set every thing set the way you want it, and then having to reload even
    with backups.

I ran into a severe problem that Microsoft spent days and many hours trying to resolve. We finally had to reload Windows 7 Professional 64bit. While they were working remote on the problem the tech put SuperAntiSpyware on the system along with MSE.
I asked about a conflict and he said not to worry as they support each other. The only point is NOT to have both acting as a firewall.

Good info, As I run MSE and Spybot and have to disable Spybot when I load certain games.

Impressed with MSE though as has caught a few nasty's.
And run (Full) system scan from time to time.
