    Default Done with avast

Wierdest thing happened. My amd software wasn't working. Couldn't disable tray permanantly or get into amd overdrive after one restart. Opened up ticket with xfx, mentioned anti-virus so I uninstalled that, everything is working perfect again.

Went back to avg free but was also curious about what you guys prefer on free anti virus. If you have radeon drivers, don't do avast!

It is very possible that the reason I had the problem was the fact I installed avast before my drivers, which is why it blocked the registry and I was having problems. Still, I'm really finicky about software that "takes over" my computer. If software stops something I'm trying to accomplish, I usually ditch it.

Btw, I have no problems with narcissism and nobody has ever accused me of being a "control freak." =P

^^This^^ plus Spybot Search And Destroy.

I advocated for AVAST for years, but started having problems with it about 4 months ago, so I uninstalled it from all of my PCs.

Or an overly attached kitten. Our first cat was for my wife, it attached to me though for some reason and is rediculously loyal! I'm the only person she really likes, can't stand strangers. Who knew cats could do that right?

My nephew has a cat that's great with him and his son, but an asshole to everyone else. Last time I was there, I put my arm across the top of the couch and it attacked my hand. I reacted and slapped it across the room before I realized what I was doing. Now, it will not come near me. (but that's a good thing)

BTW: some of the best pets I ever had were cats. Just can't have them where I am now.

Have been using MSE and Malwarebytes Pro for some time now but have been hearing that MSE is not as good as once thought. Has anyone used VIPRE?

We just had an issue with a virus that was infecting thumb drives earlier this week. AVG free missed it. Marewarebytes missed it. Spybot missed it. Norton Enterprise missed it. Kaspersky was the only one that finally caught it and removed it. We were very sure it was infecting drives. It was hiding user folders and copying itself to the next drive usb drive. A co-worker sent 20 usb drives with data on it to a customer. The customer sent us a very unflattering email. All of this started from one repair station and spread. Was a busy week getting this under control.

Did your anti virus have a firewall ? When installing GPU drivers from both AMD & Nvidia, I make it a habit to shut down my firewall and anti virus program for 15mins, download and install drivers and restart, which automatically restarts my firewall and anti virus prgrams

Vipre is what my wife's high school uses to protect their Servers and PC's.
It seems to work for them. But they never ~advertise!~ when they're hit with something.

Your customer sent you an unflattering email. Did you send one along to your buddies at Norton Enterprise?
