Not being an ass here, but that's hilarious... sometimes we don't think of the painfully obvious option. great website though...

Try downloading Open Office, it's free and very easy to use. I hope this helps.

Open Office is good to have installed anyway -- in case you ever need to open an old file you have archived somewhere -- or someone sends you a file which you don't have software to open. One issue you will find with either a converter or any software -- fonts! Last year it was driving me nuts trying to pick similar fonts and re-format some documents. I would suggest that you keep original versions of the files before you make any mods to them. If you need help locating fonts, let me know.

    Good Luck!

I'm just surprised that this thread got necro'd.

Oh well, to add in another to the list Google Docs.

If you have Word 2007 installed or even Word 2003 with compatibility pack installed .. you could download CutePDF or any free PDF writer, Open Word

.. select Print....select the PDF Writer, setup as required and hit Print

... you now have a perfect PDF Document.

The hard part is converting a PDF document back into Word. I have tried many software paid and Free with very little success

Have you notice this thread is more than 4 years old. I'm pretty sure the OP managed to convert his 2007 docx files till now.
