    Hi All!

Long time no see (or read rather)!. So Hi to all familiar names here and Hello to ones I havent had closer interaction.

Havent been here loooong time due to couple of ups and downs in life but now it all stabilised so I should be here more often.

Now to the point. I may have the oportunity to upgrade my 4890 to ... now thats the question - 6950 or gtx570.

From the reviews and comparisons I've read ( even the 6970Flex just posted) it seems that 570 beats 6950 hands down. The difference in price isnt huge so not an issue. But I would like to know what are your opinions on that.

some info: will be playing on 1920x1080 (no multiple screen setup - not at least for any forseable future) . I need to have audio over hdmi (TV hooked up to current GPU).

On another note : Do you think rest my setup (see left) will be huge bottleneck in games. No cashola to upgrade the whole lot but I'm just wondering...

    Hello again :-)

570 even tho I have a 6950 and love it.. the 570 has faster speeds, not sure about heat and power consumption. I would maybe pull some reviews and compare the 2.

I have an ASUS GTX-570 and a PNY GTX-570 both are great cards.
I wasn't sure I would be satisfied with the PNY brand considering how much less it cost when I bought it, but it's a good card.

Welcome back! I had a pair of EVGA GTX570s, they were great! The 570s will also out perform the 6950s so it's a good choice.

Why not a 6970? I think it's faster than the 570 and about the same price. In hindsight, I wish I would have gotten a 6970 instead of a 6950 (although it is a good card).

its just like intel vs amd the 6970 is slower than a 570 and costs more too. amd is second place in everything and thats only because there are only 2 places

Thanks Guys for the input, really appreciate it.

How about the bottlenecking issue i mentioned earlier?

I don't think bottlenecking will be a huge issue. PM me, I am looking to get rid of my I7 930 and an Asus P6X58E- Pro cheap...... you will have no bottlenecking then.....

Thanks for the offer Doc, But bear in mind I'm in Ireland so I would have to sell my kidney to have it shipped. That aside I was nearly a year on the dole and now I'm working only a month so there are other proirities for me than upgrading the pc if you get what i mean

Bottleneck, I don't think so but what type of game are you playing anyway? you can throw in another 4Gb of RAM and a SSD, you will see a big different.

BTW, you can crank down the resolution and the AA, you know.

I would try the 570 out and decide about the bottlenecking then.
You'll probably find that it's like a new PC with that card in there, and that you can wait to upgrade other parts at a later date.

Good luck with it and welcome back to the site.
